On the top of the Tidar hill plateau there are 3 most important thing to note. First is the 17 meter high flag pole that is frequently used by the Indonesian military academy (AKMIL) for inauguration purposes. Each year AKMIL's cadets must climb the pole to raise the DWIWARNA flag. The original Red & White flag that was raised in 1933 (before the Indonesian independence of 45) now resides in Old Majapahit ruin in Wanagama - Gunung Kidul area. The second is the two meter high square pole, covered by white ceramic tile. It was build in 1972 by special instruction of the Sultan Hamengkubuono the IX or known as the last emperor of Java. This pole is to mark his decision to give his Kingdom to the People (Tahta Untuk Rakyat). On the top section of this four sided white pole there is a reminder for the next generation of leader in the form of 4 icons. The first one is the Garuda Pancasila Logo facing North West. The second to the fourth one is a Javanese words Sopo, Salah, Seleh, written in Sanskrit text. The meaning of this words is: Sopo = Who, Salah = Mistake, Seleh = Fall. Those who make mistakes will fall. The third and most important object on the top of Tidar hill is the Grave (Petilasan)of Eyang Semar (the symbol of Javanese consciousness), located under the largest teak tree (pohon Jati) facing South. This look-a-like grave object is constructed as the reminder or mark of the agreement between those of the unseen world with the great white monkey which then to allow human settlement on the Java island.
